Passing of a Gentle Giant

I was sorry to hear of the sudden passing of a longtime (28 years) fixture in Lower Providence, Public Works director Dave Shaffer on Saturday, January 26...the guy who oversaw keeping our roads repaired, snow plowed, signs put up, and myriad other things. He was always kind, patient and gracious, and will be very much missed. Please join me in extending condolences to his family, friends, and coworkers at the Township.

UPDATE: According to the Times Herald, a viewing will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 6-8 pm at the R. I. Williams Funeral Home, 3440 Skippack Pike at Cedars Road, Skippack. Also, Friday, Feb. 1 there will be a short viewing at 10 am at Methacton Mennonite Church, 3081 Mill Road, Worcester Twp, followed by an 11 am funeral service.  The full obituary appears in the 1-30-13 Times Herald.
